Fill a collins glass with ice and set aside.
In a cocktail shaker, combine lime juice, simple syrup and Thai basil leaves. Use a muddler to crush the leaves for about 10 seconds. 1 cup of ice. Seal and shake vigorously until outside is frosted, 10 to 15 seconds.
Strain mojito into the glass and top with club soda; gently stir. Garnish with lime wedge and Thai basil sprig, if desired.
